Water Sustainability and Community Garden

The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit

West Bloomfield, MI

Project Description

The last two years we've been replacing old faucets with sensor based to reduce water consumption and waste. We have two more restrooms to complete to finalize this project. We intend to communicate out to the community the benefits of reducing water waste while decreasing our touch points. The second half of the project is to create a community garden in partnership with our Special Needs Department for their summer camp program. They would like to have individuals with special needs learn about food insecurity, how to grow and maintain a vegetable garden, and work to provide farm to table food for the summer camp program and donate food to families.
